In Adsense, changes to ad units can be done directly from one’s account. In Bidvertiser, you need to do this in your account then you will have to copy and paste the new codes into your site.

Good or bad?

For now, we can’t say with certainty if Bidvertiser is indeed a good alternative to Adsense. One thing’s for sure, though: it is a good complement to Google Adsense. As we’ve seen in our 30-day experiment, Bidvertiser went well with Adsense and did not cause a drop in earnings. However, the same may not be true for all sites so we suggest you try your own experiments.
The challenge now for us is to increase our Bidvertiser earnings without causing a detrimental impact to our Adsense income. We’ll keep you posted on these developments.

Card tricks

Step 1: You will need·         A deck of cards·         Some ladsStep 2: The card trick

If you're as magical as David Zanthor, you'll have a crowd around you. If not, you'll need to find two people for this card trick. Tell them both to pick a card from the deck. Tell them to look at it and show it to their mate and the camera. They may find this confusing. But persevere. It'll be worth it, that's a David Zanthor promise. Tell the lads to dump the cards on the top of the deck, and now perform some flashy shuffles. Now the cards have been shuffled and slammed into the middle of next week, it's time to perform some M.A.G.I.C. illusions! With razor-like fingers, cut the deck in half and give one half to a lad. Take half of the other half (that's a quarter of the whole deck for any maths fans out there) - and fan it out, face up. Now smoosh the face up cards into the other quarter deck thus mixing face up and face down cards. Hand this mess of cards to a lad and take the other half of the deck, again, fan out half of this deck and smoosh it face up into the other cards. Take the mess back off the other lad, and bang all the cards together, truly mucking them up. With the cards all mixed together, cut and turn the deck, and ask a lad to tap the deck with his young fingers. This is when the magic happens. Now go through the deck to reveal that not only are all the cards magically returned to order but that the two cards they chose stand alone face-up in the deck.Step 3: How it's done

Other magicians have exiled David from the magic circle and various internet forums for exposing his tricks but that's not going to stop him from revealing all, to you, our Videojug audience. Just remember to thank him, if you ever meet him. You'll know it's him because he only has one suit. Once you've found some lads, tell them to pick a card each. You do not need to know what these cards are for this card trick to work.  Tell the lads to put their chosen cards on top of the deck. We are going to use two blue cards here so you can follow them through the card trick. Now you make what magicians call false cuts. These are used to confuse the lads with movement, making them think the deck is being shuffled without actually changing the order of the cards. Here's how it's done. As you can see no cards change position at all, but when performed at speed, it appears as though they are mixed. Now peel off the top two cards with your thumb as you begin to shuffle and keep them at the bottom of the deck while misdirecting the lads with a question like "can you remember your cards?". Flip the bottom two cards upside down, so they are now face up. When you break the deck, surreptitiously pull off one card from the bottom, so that you are left with two half decks both with one chosen card face up on the bottom. Now you give one half to a lad to hold. Cut your deck in half and when you fan the cards flip the other deck over so that the bottom card is now the top card. When you smooch the cards together you are only mixing face-up cards except for the chosen card. Now all the cards are face up except the chosen card. But the audience doesn't know this, and that is the crucial deception. Do the same with the other deck. And mix both decks together, all the cards are face up except the two chosen cards, cut and turn the deck. Now go through the deck and reveal to the audience what you already know - all the cards are face down except for the two chosen cards. Asking someone to tap the deck implies that the magic happens at that moment, but we know it happened a long time ago. And there's how to do a gerat card trick.

Glasgow has been given a boost today after it was chosen to receive £24 million of government investment to demonstrate how a city of the future will work. Glasgow beat off competition from 30 other UK cities to host the Technology Strategy Board’s ‘Future Cities Demonstrator’.

The city will demonstrate how providing new integrated services across health, transport, energy and public safety can improve the local economy and increase the quality of life of Glasgow’s citizens, and will allow UK businesses to test new solutions that can be exported around the globe.

Announcing the investment during a visit to Glasgow, Minister for Universities and Science David Willetts said:

“With more people than ever before living in our cities, they need to be able to provide people with a better quality of life and a thriving economy. This £24 million investment will make Glasgow a city of tomorrow, demonstrating how cities can work more efficiently with a reduced environmental impact.

“We are in a global race and Glasgow can keep the UK at the forefront of innovative technology ideas. From transport systems to energy use and health, this demonstrator will play a key part in the government’s industrial strategy and give real insight into how our cities can be shaped in the future.”

The Glasgow Future Cities Demonstrator aims to address some of the city’s most pressing energy and health needs. For example, developing systems to help tackle fuel poverty and to look at long-standing health issues such as low life expectancy.

The demonstrator will also show how innovative use of technology can improve the Council’s service provision, while additional potential benefits include improved crime prevention, a reduction in anti-social behaviour and improvements in travel infrastructure.

Future Cities Demonstrator

The Technology Strategy Board will invest up to £25m in a large-scale demonstrator for future cities.

The project will demonstrate at scale, and in use, the additional value that can be created by integrating city systems. The project will enable businesses to test, in practice, new solutions for connecting and integrating city systems, and will allow UK cities to explore new approaches to delivering a good local economy and excellent quality of life, whilst reducing the environmental footprint and increasing resilience to environmental change.

This will be a two-stage competition process. Cities will be invited to bid for funding to carry out a feasibility study and develop their demonstrator project proposal. Up to 20 grants of £50k will be available and will be funded at 100% of eligible costs. A requirement of the 100% public funding is that a publicly available report is produced on the results of the feasibility study.

In the second stage, cities will complete their feasibility study report and can also submit a proposal for the large-scale demonstrator. Up to £24m is available for the project. The demonstrator will attract 100% public funding of eligible costs. To achieve the scale required to effectively test the value of integrating city systems, we intend to fund a single demonstrator project. A requirement of the 100% public funding is that the results of the demonstrator project are made publicly available and are widely disseminated.

This is a competition for cities. Stage 1 will open on 11 June 2012and applications must be submitted by noon on 5 July 2012. Feasibility study reports and full stage 2 applications must be submitted by noon on 14 November 2012.

The test will  involve questions to test a student’s problem-solving ability. The PSA is not a new test but it will replace the already existing pen-paper test in the FA. The only difference will be that PSA will be conducted by the Board in the respective schools and the evaluation will be done by the Board. The exam will be conducted on the same day and the question paper will be provided by the Board. This 90-minute test will have nothing from the textbooks. It will comprise of questions from mathematics and an English passage from old essays or contemporary fiction. The new criterion will fit into the third and fourth formative assessments. The fourth assessment includes multiple choice questions, projects and unit tests. All these will be replaced by a PSA that tests a student’s knowledge on co-scholastic situations. Registration for this Assessment will be done separately by the Board and detailed circular will be issued before the start of the second term i.e. September 2012.
